How do I become a security officer?

In order to become an officer you must:

  • Be a US citizen or registered resident alien

  • Have a minimum high school diploma or GED

  • Have no felony convictions or any crime involving the illegal use of weapons

  • Have not committed any acts of fraud

  • Pass a drug test

See the Requirements Checklist for the complete list of items needed. You would then fill out our application. Class is scheduled at your convenience conducted Monday through Thursday from 9am - 2pm at 3230 Medlock Bridge Road, Norcross GA 30092. You would take the 24-Hour Basic Security Course to get your license which will be mailed to you. You will be licensed and ready to work as a security officer as soon as you finish the course. It is recommended that you also take the 16-Hour Firearms Course. Taking the firearms course opens your opportunities up for a broader range of work. Some agencies require all officers be firearms certified in order to have the flexibility to place them on an armed or unarmed post.

I’ve worked as a security guard for years without a license. Why do I need one?

Consider yourself blessed to have not been caught and get yourself licensed. There are fines, loss of license and even jail time for officers operating without a license in Georgia. Read §43-38-16 regarding penalties. Additionally, if you are involved in an incident resulting in any sort of property damage, personal injury or death of a bystander and not a licensed officer the financial and legal consequences could be catastrophic affecting the rest of your life.

How do I know if this school is legit?

A security school must be accredited by the Georgia Board of Private Detectives & Security Agencies. You can research the credential of any school in Georgia.

What is the difference between a Bodyguard and Executive Protection?

A bodyguard is reactive when a situation arises as opposed to planning ahead. Executive Protection specialists are proactive and work on the premise of making the unknown known, to ensure to the best of their abilities, the successful completion of the detail and protective coverage of their client(s).

How can I become a bodyguard?

To start you would take the 24-Hour Basic Security Course, the 16-Hour Firearms Course and the Executive Protection Course. This position requires you to possess some soft and hard skills to be successful. Contact us to discuss.
